Darling Daisy Bridal Bouquet

Here comes Wedding Wednesday!

Daisies symbolize innocence, purity, loyal love, beauty, patience and simplicity, making this week’s bouquet speak beautifully for many lucky couples. This sweet and simple bridal clutch is designed in all white daisies with an accent of baby’s breath and fern and is tied with flowing white ribbons. The poodle of honor is adorably sporting the bride’s something blue.

Peach & Coral Rose Bridal Bouquet

It’s Wedding Wednesday!! Sorry we missed you last week. We hope everyone had a joyous holiday!

This week’s bouquet is a lovely clutch bouquet of coral and peach roses with accents of lemon leaf and variegated pittosporum; the flowers are surrounded by a nest of copper wires. Simple and elegant, this bouquet would be a lovely compliment for an oceany beach themed wedding or a nice pop of color against creamy neutral bridesmaids dresses.

Beautiful Creamy Bridal Bouquet

Hooray! It’s Wedding Wednesday! If you haven’t caught on yet, we’ve been sharing a wedding something almost every week for a few months now. We have the pleasure of designing wedding flowers for at least one happy couple every week at the shops; how could we possibly keep them all to ourselves!?!

This week’s Wedding Wednesday bridal bouquet is soft, elegant, pretty, and with its creamy neutral colors it’s well suited to many brides and many wedding themes, from the shabby chic to the classically elegant. This clutch bouquet was created with ivory and cream (almost peach) roses with velvety soft dusty miller. The foliage textures are further layered into the bouquet with seeded eucalyptus and feathery looking plumosa.

Flowers for the Haute Couture Bride

Sorry we missed you last week… Thanksgiving was wonderfully busy at the flower shop and by the time we realized it was Wedding Wednesday it was practically Thursday! Hope you missed us!

This week’s Wedding Wednesday bridal bouquet is a shop stopper; big, beautiful, exotic, and dramatic. Lovely pink ginger arc across the top of the bouquet, nestled behind birds of paradise, with their orange and blue crowns fanning out in colorful display. Hot pink roses are gathered in the front of the bouquet with a pop of purple statice at their center. Pouring from the roses is a flowing cascade of burgundy hanging amaranthus and a few stems of yellow solidego flair out to the side for another pop of color. A forest of foliage finishes the bouquet including plumosa, looped Ti leaves, sprays of lily grass and loops of braided emerald palm. We definitely think this unique bouquet belongs in our floral haute couture collection.

A Stein Family Wedding

It’s Wedding Wednesday! This week we thought we’d share a beautiful bridal bouquet and cake design from an extra special wedding, the wedding of two wonderful people that are forever a part of the Stein Your Florist Co. family.

This lovely bridal bouquet (and awesome couple) will always be one of our favorites! Pale pink roses, white lisianthus, miniature calla lilies, stock flower, green hypericum berries, hanging amaranthus and seeded eucalyptus create the perfect wedding clutch bouquet. Soft, romantic and simply stunning.
Bridal Bouquet by Stein Your Florist Co.

Their cake is also one to remember. Pretty petals complimenting the bride’s bouquet and bands of ribbon to match the bridesmaids’ dresses turned this petite cake into a reception show stopper!

Petite Peony Bridal Bouquet

It’s that day of the week again… Wedding Wednesday!! This week’s bouquet is a petite bridal clutch of white peonies. It is so simple and sweet with a bit of pearl accent on it’s stems; it whispers of wedding romance.

Peonies are symbolically known as the flower of riches and honor. Their opulent, full, rounded blooms embody romance and prosperity and are considered an omen of good fortune and a happy marriage, making them a highly desired flower for many brides. They are the traditional floral symbol of China, the state flower of Indiana, and the 12th wedding anniversary flower.

Peak peony season begins in early spring and extends through late June, perfect for all those springtime weddings!

Opulent Bridal Clutch Bouquet

This bridal bouquet is so classically beautiful, we can’t believe it took us this long to blog about it! We created this lovely clutch bouquet for a bride with very particular taste and a generous budget a few years ago.

When we think of high-end wedding flowers, lilies, roses, orchids and stephanotis instantly come to mind and this bouquet has a generous gathering of all four of these floral riches. This week’s Wedding Wednesday bouquet is certainly opulent.

We choose the finest white Casablanca lilies, white Eskimo roses, and green cymbidium orchids for this bouquet and finished it with fragrant stephanotis with pearled centers for an extra bit of wedding romance.

Rich and Romantic Bridal Cascade

This week’s Wedding Wednesday flowers are a cascading bridal bouquet designed in rich romantic hues of reds, purples, and pinks. Its length gives it an extra bit of elegance that you don’t always achieve in a round bridal bouquet.

The bouquet is designed in red roses, purple lisianthus, lavender dahlias, stargazer lilies, pink miniature calla lilies, pink miniature carnations and feathery soft pink astilbe. The foliage used includes baker fern, plumosa and burgundy ti leaves. The rich color of the ti leaves adds an extra layer of depth to the color scheme and their smooth surface juxtaposed to the fluffier floral petals adds textural interest. The bouquet is finished with a bit of purple ribbon, the color of the bridesmaids’ dresses, throughout the bouquet.

Romantic Red Bridal Bouquet

It’s Wedding Wednesday again!! This week’s bouquet is a clutch of romantically red blooms. Red gerbera daisies and red roses with pearled centers are accented by variegated pittosporum and feathery soft plumosa.

We love the elegance of the pearls juxtaposed to the fun nature of the gerbera daisies.

A Bouquet for a Diva

Another Wednesday means we’re talking about another wedding. This week’s Wedding Wednesday bouquet is a bit traditional and a bit modern.

Cascading bridal bouquets are a beautiful traditional style, but they’re not necessarily the current trend. This bouquet is a short cascade, so you get a bit of drama without feeling old fashioned, and the loops of sword fern in this bouquet give it contemporary flair and dramatic texture.

In addition to the sword fern this bridal cascade was created with white calla lilies, star of Bethlehem, white alstroemeria, bits of white hydrangea, bold and beautiful Casablanca lilies, cream carnations, tree fern and a little artificial ginestra. The gold statice throughout the bouquet was at the request of the bride, a self-described diva that said it was her day to shine! A fun addition to an all white bouquet.

We love the varying textures of this bouquet and its blend of classic style with modern flair.

Blue Orchid Bridal Bouquet

It’s another beautiful blue bouquet for this week’s Wedding Wednesday!

Blue orchid and white rose bridal cascade by Stein Your Florist Co.
Blue orchid and white rose bridal
cascade by Stein Your Florist Co.
This bridal cascade was created with blue dendrobium orchids from Thailand and white roses with accents of baby’s breath and foliage. The bride requested to have loops of white ribbon incorporated with long streamers hanging to add another textural element to her traditional bouquet.

While the colors of this bouquet seem a bit wintry, the blue orchids give it a slight tropical feel. These orchids are naturally fuchsia and white; they have been dyed blue with special floral dye that the flower absorbs through the stem, turning the fuchsia portions of the bloom deep blue and the white portions turquoise. They have long been popular here at the shop for proms, weddings and as an everyday floral delight.

Here Comes the Autumn Bride

Autumn Wedding Bouquet by Stein Your Florist Co.
Circus, leonidas and yellow roses are gathered in a
clutch bouquet with red hypericum berries, plum
dahlias, variegated pittosporum, and preserved oak
leaves and are surrounded by a nest of shiny copper
wire. A beautiful autumn palette of seasonal blooms.
Now that it is officially autumn and the days are getting shorter, everything is flavored with a perfumy pumpkin spice, the landscape is emblazon with warm hues of red, orange, gold and bronze, there are more hayrides and corn mazes than a person can possibly take in in one season, and the air has that refreshing crispness that makes us all want to snuggle the one we love just a little bit closer. It seems like the perfect time to plan an autumn themed wedding!

Planning a great party or special event can be a daunting task. The stress seems almost doubled when planning your dream wedding. From choosing a date, a venue, who to invite, designing a theme, picking a color scheme… many couples find themselves overwhelmed before they’ve even begun! Every wedding is as unique as the couple themselves. We at Stein Your Florist Co. have been in business more than 128 years, and with an average of 10-12 weddings, both big and small, a month… well you do the math, it’s a lot of weddings!

Autumn bridal cascade by Stein Your Florist Co.
A traditional bridal cascade of orange
Asiatic lilies, red roses, solidego, caramel daisies,
and red hypericum berries with assorted foliages in
warm fall hues.
We can’t stress enough to our couples the importance of maintaining a theme throughout their wedding. You don’t want your guests moving from your ceremony decked in pretty pinks into a dark and gothic reception… at least not without a costume change, a narrator and perhaps some movie magic. If your theme isn’t cohesive your guests may end up feeling like they’re crashing the wedding next door!

We recommend choosing a theme early and carrying it through every aspect of your big day. If you stay on track this will help alleviate some of the stress that comes with the vast array of choices you’ll be faced with when planning your wedding. If you’ve decided on warm autumn hues, then there’s no reason to even look at all those baby pink table linens and all those cool blue blooms you saw at your friend’s wedding can take a hike!

Autumn Color Palette by Stein Your Florist Co.
Autumn Color Palette:
Yellow, Gold, Caramel, Orange, Rust, Apple Red,
Chocolate Brown  and Olive Green.

One of our favorite autumn color palettes includes a sunny yellow, a warm gold, caramel, orange, rust, deep apple red, and chocolate brown with an accent of olive green, our homage to the last bits of verdant foliage that hangs on through autumn until it’s covered by winter’s snowfall.

Paperless Post
Introduce your theme and color scheme to your guests early. This means the initial save the date card and the following invitation should give your guests a taste of what’s to come and leave them wanting more. The good people of Paperless Post offer beautiful, customizable online and paper stationary to reflect your individual aesthetic. You can even upload your own pictures to make your invitations truly unique. Their lovely “Autumn Boughs” design suits our theme and color palette perfectly. The wispy branches still laden with fall’s changing leaves across the top is complimented by the pile of fallen foliage at the bottom of the invitation, while the gentle ivory background keeps it wedding elegant. (Follow up your event with matching thank you cards to say thanks and bring back memories of the awesome time everyone had!)

Autumn Centerpiece by Stein Your Florist Co.
This rustic autumn centerpiece captures all the
colors of our fall palette:  red and orange roses,
rust dahlias, caramel daisies, yellow solidego,
golden ranunculus, orange alstroemeria and
Asiatic lilies, brown lotus pods, branches, and
millet with accents of olive green seeded eucalyptus.
Now that the stage has been set it’s time to put on the show! The best way to put on this production with a cohesive look is with flowers and botanicals… though we may be a bit biased ;) Though your venue may change throughout your wedding day your decorations should be the glue that binds your theme together. That means the ceremony, the cocktail hour, the reception, every aspect of your wedding should be decorated in the same color scheme and flower varieties (though flower variety isn’t as important as keeping to your color scheme, so using less expensive blooms in your centerpieces compared to the bridal bouquets is a valid substitution).

Of course the bridesmaids’ dresses and the groomsmen’s ties are important too, as are the table linens… their color will serve as the background of your wedding and give your blooms something to pop against. We love the look of olive green as a background color and as a floral accent; in the floral business green is somewhat of a neutral for us. It’s Mother Nature’s color and is perfect for displaying her autumn bounty, plus your guys and girls will look great in it, but you can’t go wrong with any autumn hue.

Autumn Wedding Bouquet by Stein Your Florist Co.
This bouquet takes a walk on the wild side with accents
of leopard print ribbon. A gathering of sunflowers, thistle, black
ornamental peppers, bronze chrysanthemums, orange calla
lilies, solidego, seeded eucalyptus and touches of wispy
plumosa are surrounded by a collar of chocolate
curled ti leaves.
We also recommend choosing flowers that are in season. While off-season blooms could be specially grown just for your big day, they are going to be expensive and the quality will not be as good as flowers that are in season. Some of our favorite autumn flowers are:  Asiatic lilies, celosia (aka coxcomb), dahlias, gerbera daisies, alstroemeria, calla lilies, chrysanthemums, leucadendron, roses, yarrow, solidego, hypericum berries, sunflowers, carnations and ranunculus. You’ll see many of these flowers represented in the bouquets pictured throughout this post. In the right hues, your bouquets will capture the warmth and beauty of the fall season and your big day will be unforgettable.

Have fun planning your autumn parties and weddings and enjoy all the season has to offer!

Beautiful in Blue Bridal Bouquet

It’s Wedding Wednesday again!! This week’s bouquet has a definite WOW impact and these bold blue roses are for a bride equally as bold.

Our bouquet of blue roses stands alone, without any accent flowers, and just a simple collar of variegated pittosporum to make the blue really pop, not that it needs much help. Blue roses have been a favorite of our customers for as many years as we’ve carried them, with good reason, blue is statistically the favorite color of more people than any other color!

This bouquet is beautiful year-round, is especially lovely for an icy blue wedding theme and definitely covers the “something blue” in your wedding collection.

Blue is all around us, it’s nature’s color for ocean and sky and some of us wear it almost daily from our casual denim to our blue business suits. This bouquet left our bride feeling anything but blue on her big day!

A Single Rose

This week’s Wedding Wednesday bouquet is super simple, but still romantic and sweet.

Known as “the bridal flower,” the white rose is said to symbolize the new and pure bond of two people. The white rose signifies a bride's worth, innocence and loyalty to her husband whether the rose is part of a bouquet or standing alone. And, of course all roses, no matter the color, symbolize love.

We’ve accented our single rose with some long blades of lily grass and a generous cluster of seeded eucalyptus with a champagne bow. This bouquet is also perfect for the budget conscious bride, a single rose isn’t just elegant, but affordable too!

A Petal for Every Wedding Season

So you’ve chosen the date, the venue and the dresses; you know what colors you like, the wedding theme, and the tone you want to set… and now for the flowers. With thousands of varieties and colors available, choosing the proper blooms can seem like a daunting task. Luckily, your local florist is an expert in this arena. At Stein Your Florist Co. we have been assisting brides in these careful decisions for 125 years and our first bit of advice is always the same, choose what you love. Sometimes this is easily accomplished, many popular blooms are available year round, while others are a bit more season specific. It is never impossible to procure out of season flowers, they may be specially grown just for you; however, seasonal flora is typically less expensive and of better quality.

Florists import flowers from around the world, acquiring much of their inventory from South America, California, Hawaii, Holland, Asia, and Africa granting a bevy of beautiful blooms in all seasons. Among the most popular are roses, many varieties of lilies, alstroemeria, bouvardia, carnations, chrysanthemums, freesia, gardenias, snapdragon, stock, gerbera daisies, liatris, iris, lisianthus, stephanotis (a wedding classic), veronica, many varieties of orchids, and tropicals, such as ginger, birds of paradise and protea. These seasonless standbys combined or standing alone create stunning bouquets, centerpieces and venue d├ęcor for your wedding day. Consider your colors and theme and have fun designing your dream wedding.

If incorporating the season’s blooms is something you’d like or if the everyday flora just isn’t your scene, then consider the time of year and spice up your wedding bouquets with the finest flowers of the fields. Winter lays claim to stunning amaryllis, asters, daffodils, Dutch, French and Parrot tulips, hyacinths, poinsettias, ranunculus and sweet pea. Much of this flora may sound Springy (especially tulips, hyacinths and daffodils) since we associate them with Easter, but as soon as Spring hits it is simply too warm for these delicate blossoms, but they create a perfect combination for March weddings on the cusp of Spring. Following the vernal equinox we are offered beautiful anemone varieties, lily of the valley, peonies, Queen Anne’s lace, and scabiosa. These flowers offer a wonderfully rich garden feel to your Spring wedding.
Summer brings cockscomb, cornflower, dahlias, and zinnias. Summer blooms are often very bright and fun, they lend a carefree hippie vibe to your otherwise formal wedding. Finally, Fall flora brings us a palette of rusts, reds, oranges, and terra cottas mirroring the trees’ metamorphosis. Summer’s tuberose remains and anemones of a different variety return, with camellia and cosmos. Autumn weddings have a welcoming affect, greeting your guests with a blanket of warm colors and boasting a bountiful harvest.

Your bouquet is your star accessory and one of the first things your guests will notice as you enter your ceremony, it will be in most of your photos and even get its own close up shot. Take time to consider your bouquet and work with your florist to create the perfect combination of blooms. No matter what you chose, the stunning beauty of flowers is always in season.
